Been there, the fun thing is, in the far south you can jump down and you will be under the world, and if you jump towards the sea, you will be in the water with no breath limitation, so basically you could swim around below the continent. Only problem here is, that the water texture doesn't reach very far, so you have to stick towars the "coast".
I used this to swim until Tanaris but I got bored, maybe this could be somehow useful if you find some river which allows you to swim inland. You can try it if you're bored.
