Interesting find in Southern Barrens...

I don't know if this constitutes exploration of any sort, it's just a bug, really. If you fly kind of low over the entrance to the Frazzlecraz Motherlode mine in Southern Barrens, it'll dismount you. If you're high enough, you'll get the "Puddle Jumper" achievement that is one of the Deepwind Gorge BG achievements. When you're inside the mine, you are in a different CRZ than the rest of Southern Barrens, and you have the Preparation buff that you get when you're in a BG waiting for it to begin. You will enter the Deepwind Gorge global chat channel.

I don't know if there's any way to take advantage of that for any exploratory purposes or not.

Pretty odd! Credit to my guildie for accidentally getting dismounted there and piquing my interest about the spot.

If I stay inside the mine and use an Eye of Kilrogg to go look around back out in Southern Barrens, it's totally empty of NPCs/mobs.

Joining a bg and afking, at least the way that I did it, does not appear to do anything special.

My next idea was to do an auto-unstuck followed by a logout and release at the 20 second mark (the same way that you escape from Gilneas as a level one Worgen). After dieing and waiting for the logout timer, the Preparation Buff was reapplied and I rezzed, but now am only able to spin, and any action gives a "Another action is in progress" error.

I'm sure there's some nice exploration / exploit that can be done with this, keep looking guys!

Side Note: If your zone is changing a lot try using a Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller: while you are controlling it your zone won't change.

Confirmed - Interesting to see a bug like this in the normal game world, not instanced. Yet another time where Blizz doesn't realize that the zone ID is shared with an already used wmo in the game. Gotta love the derpiness of blizz devs.
