The main reason is because OP theorizes about a slowfalling-speed cap, which was supposedly implemented in 5.3.

Using a nifty ''natural'' measuring tape, I've created the video below for you guys.
I picked a mountain which I felt made for a good flying distance towards the measuring tape, and did 2 tests for flying speed: Xtreme rocket boots and Goblin Glider. I used my new rocket boots > slowfall jump method for the first, and did a rocket boots > glider jump for the second.
This second test was done this way as to get the same starting point for the glider compared to the slowfall. Of course there will be a small difference for the jumps, but the gap they have with one another at the ending point is so large that I can say with complete certainty that the speeds
do vary and, for us engineers, they vary positively.
My earlier theories are hereby theory no longer and are very much fact. The aura given by both xtreme rocket boots
and nitro boosts cannot be cancelled, yet you can wait their durations out until the very last moment and then make your jump, allowing you take the speed, height, and slowfall components alltogether to recreate the pre-5.3 rocket jumps. The xtreme boots speed is still the highest, Glider following
very closely behind and after that comes the nitro boosts.
Noteable as well is that by using the glider while in xtreme boots slowfall, your character will move upward a teensy tiny bit. This could be used to get that last bit of height as you're about to hit an obstacle you're trying to land on.
