First of all, I would like to say that I did a quick search for pygmy oil before making this post, and I did not find anything. If, however, there already are threads like this, please let me apologize in advance, and just delete this thread.
Last night I was lurking around on this forum, and I got inspired by this thread http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/worl...genfogger.html (Get Under Org/Kalimdor Map In Seconds With Noggenfogger) - so really this guy is the one that should recieve any eventual rep, as I don't feel that I have done anything than tweaking his idea a bit.
So here's the thing. By the use of pygmy oil, you can break the hit box or whatever it is called and get through any ceilings where you are able to mount. I have tried 2 different characters (mage and priest, pictures will be attached from my priest) and it worked with both. I did also try in both Pandaria and Eastern Kingdoms - works both places.
So what materials did I use?
- Pygmy oil - enough to become a pygmy
- Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. I did not test with any other mount, but my guess would be that it would work with any mount really, as long as it is big enough.
I did basically the same procedure as the guy in the mentioned thread, but I took the liberty to attach my own screenshots with the procedure. So, here I will show how to get under the Shrine of Seven Stars in Valley of Eternal Blossoms.
First, fly into the narrow space where the arrow is pointing. Try to get as far in as you can, while dismounted.
All the way in there.
Then you drink pygmy oil until you become a pygmy. Try to get further in if that's possible. After you have become a pygmy, and you are sure that you are as far in as possible, take your largest mount and mount up. After you have mounted up, disspell the pygmy buff. You will be partially through the texture above you.
Jump slightly forward. It does not necessarily work, you might end up stuck. If you don't get through, just dismount. (It might work without jumping, I must admit I did not try). You will be through the texture.
You are free to walk around under the city.
I must warn you though, I tried to mount up and fly below. It turns out that the client or server didn't like me being there, so I kept disconnecting for every inch I moved. It was easy to fly towards the centre below the city, but it was impossible to get out. I had to dismount and fall towards a certain death.
Thank you for your attention, and I hope this can be used to some lovely exploration. And again, give any eventual rep to the guy with the thread I mentioned, as this really is a tweak of his invention. But if it is a repost, I'm the guy to yell at.
Update 1: I tried with a flying mount to fly all the way up to a ceiling and remove the pygmy buff. That did not work, I just got pushed downwards. So it looks like you need to be in a narrow space for this to work.
Update 2: I almost managed to get through with a small flying mount in a narrow space. I used the Headless Horseman's Mount and followed the same procedure. I got to see through the texture, but I was unable to get through. So it looks like it is possible with smaller mounts too, but it might be more tricky.
I am all out of Pygmy Oil at the moment, and I bought every single oil and mats for it at AH, so I will have to continue to figure out this later on. If anyone else tries this and finds something else, I will update this post (if it isn't locked after a certain amount of time).
Update 3: Still no pygmy suckerfish or pygmy oil on the market, so I decided to try something else. I can now confirm that this technique also works with Savory Deviate Delight. I tried 3 times, in the same spot as I described above with the Pygmy Oil, and it worked all 3 times. Got the pirate buff every time, and I do not know if it works with the ninja buff, but I do not see any reason why it shouldn't work. Will try to use some other stuff to see if it works too.
Update 4: Technique with Savory Deviate Delight works with both a gnome priest and night elf druid.
Update 5: It also works with noggenfogger.
Update 6: This also works with the transformation you get from Blingtron. Same technique. Get into a tight space, mount up, remove buff, and you're through.
