[Engineering]The Random Expeditions: Stranglecroft the Tomb Raider (5.05)

Hey guys, and welcome to another Mists of Pandaria exploration for The Random Expeditions!

For this 13th episode (ooh unlucky!) I've used a new, simple method of non-instance exploring - combining the height-gain effect of the Gnomish Gravity Well with the forward boost and slow fall of the Goblin Glider, in order to get over obstacles - in this case, locked doors and walls in the stunning Tomb of the Conquerors in Kun-Lai Summit. The resultant tomb areas I foun-sorry, raided, are some of the largest and most beautiful I've found since exploring.

    Anyways, enjoy!

    You will need:

    - Level 90 and ability to fly in Pandaria (needed to use the gravity well)
    - Gnomish Gravity Well
    - Goblin Glider cloak tinker

That's awesome Strangletusk! Always enjoy your videos as well. I had no idea of the power of the Gnomish Gravity Well! Have you always been able to basically jump up like that as many times as you want? Also, you said it does not work in instances, which I think I remember someone saying that as well, like you instantly die or something. I have never gotten an engineer past 325 (the level you need for rocket boots) so I think I need to get one to MoP level for both that Gnomish Gravity Well, as well as the new glider!

A quick side note: could you simply run though the door while dead or punt a marmot though it like the ones in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms? Just curious is all, I use that all the time to get to the Cache with the key. I would assume not since the doors in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms are triggered by quest completion and dailies.

Have +4 rep cookies for this and all the other ones that you have posted.

Thanks for the positive feedback man! And wow that's a lot of questions haha. I'll answer what I can:

    - Jumping up repeatedly: yeah you've always been able to do this, though there is a % chance with every use to get a debuff which disables the use of the item for about 10-15 seconds, which can be a problem if you're doing very high jumps like this. But essentially, yeah, it's always been like this. Can use it outdoors, and indoors, so combined with the glider like I showed there is a lot of potential for reaching high places indoors now.

    - In instances: Yeah you're right, you just can't use it instances. As for the "you instantly die", I'm not sure I understand you? It just can't be used at all, it greys out like it does with flying mounts and what have you. There is an exception though, if I remember rightly you can use it in certain parts of Grim Batol, but afaik, this is the only exception.

    - Running through while dead: Simple answer - no idea. I've not tried it, though I suspect that like you said it's unlikely this will work since these doors are never meant to open. But since the models are essentially only reskins of each other for the tombs it's possible. Definitely worth a shot if you have the time.

    - Marmot: Again, I've not tested it so I've no idea. Given the power of that particular glitch, it's quite likely though - if you can punt it through a certain area you might be able to fall into the room below and etc.

Hope this answers your questions enough! But yeah, I definitely recommend levelling your engineering man - it's just so useful for exploring, I wouldn't even consider dropping it

Thanks for all the answers! I didn't realize I asked so many

Anyway, I need to really redo all my toon's when it comes to proffs. I think I will drop mining or something because I can't afford to drop JC for raiding purposes. I have mining on another toon so I will just make him primary miner for all my toons haha.

Awesome vid man, will rep when possible! Keep up the good work!

Also, it seems like the area you found seems to be the uninstanced version of some scenario, Crypt of the forgotten kings if i remember!

I absolutely loved this exploration, StrangleCroft! You certainly did solve puzzles... entering the tomb is usually the main puzzle to solve, after all!

Thanks so much for sharing this wicked tomb with us.
