[5.0.4] Exploration change - no flying mounts in "unknown"

I've just tested several "unknown" areas, and it seems you can no longer cast flying mounts in Unknown areas.

Regular mounts can still be cast and used. Just hybrid and flying mounts disappear the moment they are cast. I attempted a DC during the cast, logged back in still on the flying mount, but dismounted the moment I tried to move.

This means no more flying behind Zul'Aman, outside of Deepholm, the edges of the Draenei starting zone, and other such areas.

    This is a sad change
I didn't get it while I was flying under deephome yesterday, but now it makes sense...

Aw hell no! I love flying behind ZA! That's like, one of my favourite places to explore Looks like I'll need to find a new method to get up the Dawnstar Spire - I love that place.

Hm, so it dismounted you as soon as you moved? Perhaps,
    1. D/c during cast
    2. Log back in still on hybrid mount
    3. Apply lagged exploration (however you do that on your OS)
    4. Fly to where you need to
    5. Remove lagged exploration
    6. Hope that removing it doesn't d/c you...

I'll give this a go a bit later today and report back, thanks for the heads-up Trok!

Good news! I testing doing the above steps behind Zul'Aman in Ghostlands and they worked a charm Managed to use it to get to the top of Dawnstar Spire and fly around various parts outside Ghostlands and yeah...it works!

Since I use a Mac, I used the Mac method for lagging - if you're on PC (which most of you are), then you should just be able to use your method of lagged exploration to do this.

    Happy exploring

Glad to see a work around, but sad that the original method was fixed.

We don't really have one that lasts for more than a few seconds... bar things like Guild Bank lag macro... or 3rd party programs.

Well that's...annoying I was just able to use the terminal program on mac to lag - I guess you guys would have to use something like NetLimiter to do this (I'm not sure if the GB Lag Macro would be applicable for this method after all), and, like me, I know that you are pretty against using 3rd party programs for exploring...so regardless that this works, it's still a bummer that it has to be this that works.

Even though it's pretty straightforward for me as a mac user, I'm still reluctant to use this method - it just doesn't feel...right. It's still server-side, once the lag is turned off at the end, so I am 'at' the places I reach, but it just feels too simple. It almost feels like I've cheated in some way, and the fact that it's using something outside of the game doesn't help this...I'm sure you know where I'm coming from Trok.

Still, at least we sort-of have a work-around, so if we can find some other non-third-party way(s) to lag enough to make this viable then that'd be fine and dandy

What about the old fly without mount exploit with netlimiter? Flying mount -> limit DL speed only -> SUCCESS

That is essentially the same as the lagged exploration method I mentioned, although, you need to d/c while casting a hybrid mount first to get on the mount when you log back in, so yeah...should work fine.
