[Guide] The Power of Heroic Leap

    Good afternoon Ownedcore!

Today I am going to show you a video guide to mastering the Warrior ability Heroic Leap when exploring the World of Warcraft. There is a little bit of bonus exploration of showing you another way to get in the unknown flying zone in Ghostlands.

    Intro

This guide was inspired by the various posts on Heroic Leaping when exploring, but there really isn't a guide on how to do it. It requires certain maneuvering and knowing the mechanics of how the mountains are built themselves. In this guide, I will show you these simple ways to Heroic Leap up mountainsides, which in my opinion is one of the easier ways to mountain climb. Also, to see other examples of Heroic Leaping, visit my Youtube channel, or search for my other posts on Ownedcore.

    Tips

There are a few tips to know before you watch the video:

    1. You can increase your camera viewing distance by typing a simple /script command within WoW. This is particularly useful when you cannot see the other side of the mountain side. It is also useful during raids and such. I believe you can go out to 80 depending if your computer can handle it or not. Im guessing somewhere around 15 is default. Found in a very old post on How to increase your camera distance - Joystiq.com
      Code:
      /script SetCVar("cameraDistanceMax",30)
    2. Make sure you "latch" onto the mountain and if possible, are on a mount. What this does is it somehow tricks the server into thinking you are not on the mountain anymore, making it possible to Heroic Leap anywhere on the other side without seeing the "No Path Available" error. I will show you an example in the video as well.
    3. You know you are latched to the wall when you can turn in a ninety degree angle to the left or the right, and not run off the mountain.
    4. This type of exploring is very "guess and check" if you will. There are some slopes if you are in the right position, you wont need to latch onto the mountainside, but others it is a must. Some require you to jump off another mountain to get to another mountain across the way, which you can see from my other videos. I will link the main video in "Additional Stuff."

    Video

Here's the video. There are few spots to be wary of. When jumping down to the wall, the skull on the pillar is not solid, which is why I died falling. The second part is when jumping off the wall. Try not to be on a flying mount, since it gets confused if you are in an unknown zone or the Ghostlands Zone. Which is why when I tried jumping down and using Heroic Leap to save me from my fall, I failed because it caught me in midair. Luckily I didn't die again.

    Outro

Thanks for watching the video! I hope this helps explorers that want an easy way to climb mountains. Also if there are any questions, please feel free to ask me. I will try to get back as soon as possible.

Wonderful guide, Teryaki2! Thanks for doing the work and adding this to the site. Now when people search out Heroic Leap they will find this. I will add this link to the Heroic Leap section in the Exploration Tutorial sticky. Oh and congrats on Contributor status... you deserve it!

Thanks Trokair! I am in the same boat as you, I still have to spread some rep to rep you for some of the things you found while I was gone (like the DMT glitch!)

    Useless but another example.

    Hey Guys and Gals,

Didn't want to make a new thread on something as pointless as this, and I'm sure most of us have seen this as well, but maybe not by this method.

I started my account back up (it is so nice to explore on my own account again) and I was in Dalaran when I logged into my Warrior. I decided to see if I could Heroic Leap past the guards and it is possible, but only in the Inn. Like I said it is pretty useless, but maybe it can be useful in other situations, some of which I cannot think of right now.

    Here's the video.

    Enjoy!
