That isn't new, that's there since karazhan has been designed in this way. (In the alpha, karazhan had another look.. A better look.)
But that's there since 2006. Or maybe longer. But before cataclysm it was harder to reach it. Not impossible, but hard.
I think the entrance was thought as a shorter way to the spire, after you've defeated some bosses. Or they wanted to make another part.. Nobody knows. But I don't think they will add another part to karazhan.
have read it too now.. damnit ^^
Hey, keep on exploring. For others it's old, but for you it's new, and you've found it. Be proud on yourself and keep on finding places like this. Even if it's old - It's interesting. And iyour post shows, that you are interested and you think about the places you find.
Now keep on and hurry to your next exploration - And if you find something, please share it with us!
I give you 1 rep as a little incentive to keep on working!
haha thanks.. yeah i always love to see some things what could be in future![]()
If I remember correctly, a friend at Blizzard told me that the original idea & design of that was to have a flight point at Karazhan to make it easier to get to, and that the instance portal up there would simply port you out the front gate or something like that. Definitely an odd anomaly.
Indeed, looks like old design plans that were scratched. Funny they never removed it. Especially after redoing the whole world too.
Reminds me if you map-explore the outsides of Sunwell and MgT you'll find the starting quest building actually a little encampment with tents instead of a building since, that too, was probably changed before it was actually released.
Hey man, I think it's a good contribution. You tried, and that's all that matters.![]()

New is a definition for everyone. When i first started to explore i was like HELL *** YEAH I CLIMBED ORGRIMMAR! After a while i could do it in my sleep.
What i am trying to say is you should feel good about yourself when you find something new. Even if its old to others its new to you.

I still hope they don't forget about the mirrored version of karazhan that was described in the book...
And that the crypt will be someday useful.
About the gryphon roost :
From wowwiki : Karazhan - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of WarcraftThe Karazhan gryphon roost is leftover from the planning phase of Karazhan. Before the teleport to Aran's room was implemented, the original plan was to have a flightpath that connected to the top of Karazhan for the convenience of groups who had already cleared most of the instance.[citation needed] The instance portal does not function. Since the release of Cataclysm and the possibility of flying in Azeroth it is possible to reach the Gryphon Roost. On the Gryphon Roost you can find 2 gryphons alive and well, but you can't interact with them. If you look into the portal you can see a wooden staircase leading up and down, but an iron gate prevents you from entering.
Thanks for the post on the NanaCry, I actually have always wondered why those were up there (having done insane wall jumping back in BC to get up there myself.) I just never bothered to look up why they may be up there. Pre-Cata the gate used to open tough, and you could blink past the invisible wall to get into the staircase area.
