    @Modeledit haters : I'm the first one to say it sucks that they don't release a fully working ME for development but i can also recognize a really good work when i see one. And this is definitively a great movie.

    Not a model edit hater and I think the video is great, but a working development MPQ would get a million rep.

    This is very kind of you, but as Trokair rightly guessed :
    (And +4rep, even though that is probably not your thing.)
    Sorry, but we're not interested in rep.
    But fixing the map is not that hard, it just requires some basic knowledge about how the game works and how files interact with other files However, I agree that it requires some time to have the whole map working without error / crashes / whatever, but once you figured out the trick, it's relatively easy
    And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes

    That's the problem. Relatively is a relative term. What's "relatively easy" for you isn't for someone else. I tried for days with my basic knowledge of ADTs and world creation and couldn't get it.

    There used to be a place on Gilijims isle that looked very similiar to the place shown at 15:45 but im pretty sure thats STV, anyways This was an amazing video, absolutely fantastic

    Yep that's zul gurub uninstanced.
    Gilijims isle was there only during alpha/beta. You could only see the zone name appear near the coasts of booty bay before catalysm (don't know if it still works)

    I'm rewatching the movie just for the sound xD

    FYI, it does not work any more. You no longer "zone in" to that area when on that particular map edge, as you did before Cataclysm.

    @Joeljuve & Nanacry : you are right, it looks like Gillijim's Isle because this Island and Stranglethorn Vale have many things in common : vegetation, troll buildings... (I even think that Gillijim's Isle and the other one (Lapidis) are an alpha version of STV )

    Hey spoutnik, if you still are checking this thread out: (also, sorry if necro-bumping)
    Today, when trying to implement the development files into WoW, I saw this:

    Yes, that's right - There were already some files there. Did you know this or are those new? also, what the hell does the .chk file-ekstention?
    Excuse me if this isn't new


    EDIT:
    I extracted the two files and opened them in notepad. Here's the result (do not worry, it's short):
    Ocsteele
    Ocdubin

    So.. Any ideas about what this means?


    Also, some might find this interesting and/or funny - It's names and the instance ID found in Map.dbc and AreaTable.dbc. So development is actually 'in-game'. The .adt's and .wdt's are just missing. (also, I would love to visit Dat Bernau's Happy Fun Land!)

    Yes, I knew about the files (don't remember when I first saw them, when Cataclysm launched I think), but I doubt very much that those 2 files can be of any use.
    However, you are right, Development is "in-game", but the map MoD & Alequia got doesn't contain all the names, for obvious reasons (the map is incomplete ^^)

    Oh, and Bernau's Happy Fun Land is nice, but there's not so many things there :
