Old Ironforge is shown for a brief moment in the dwarf starting video in 4.0.3a+. It has also already been updated in 4.0.3 (or maybe even 4.0.1), as I just exploited down here to check it out on a live server. The 4.0.3a PTR though, and I assume beta as well, the area remains closed off.

I've noticed the change as well, was board and wanted to see if i can mount bug through a window to get there since the big mount nerf. Def different.

Buddy, they change secret areas ALL THE TIME, GM Island, Emerald Dream, Programmers Isle, etc.

Watch out guys, GM Island is gonna open in cataclysm where everyone can get your free GM powers, and Emerald Dream is gonna open up as a new instance where you kills cows. They're also going to allow players into Programmers Island and edit WoW to your liking.

Moral of this post: Blizzard can change something without releasing it.
