You've also been paying Blizzard for access to their game, while never once causing any damage to Blizzard, their property, or their game in any way.

Who really wins? 'cause it's not looking like it's you.

By pulling as many people as possible to GM Island, you're playing Russian Roulette, with a ban in many of the chambers. Sure, not everybody is guaranteed to get perma-banned, but why would you want to risk your account that you worked hard on (Seeing as you need at least a 55 to make a Death Knight (or at least you did, last time I played)) so you can dick around on some island everybody's seen with NOTHING ON IT?

As an understood rule, Blizzard is NOT supposed to perma-ban for players exploiting / exploration without the use of hacks or illegal third-party programs on the spot without previous investigation. Generally, if a GM catches you where you're not supposed to be, you'll get anything ranging from a warning to a 3-day ban. Here's the TWIST: GMs cannot (to my understanding) discern immediately whether or not you were using said programs or not, and given you're in an area such as GM Island, it would undoubtedly be discerned that the use of hacks was true. This will result in a PERMANANT BAN on your account, as well as IP. This goes for things such as item duping (yes, it's possible without hacks) and model edits (different matter all together).

I personally was perma-banned due to being reported for hacking by a mass of people after flying around in Orgrimmar for two hours straight back in the days of Otherworld. I had submitted an appeal with solid facts and evidence that my exploiting was unassisted, and my account was unfrozen after the second day.

I am unsure if Blizzard actually provides ban appeals, or if it was some weird coincidence, but even if so, should Blizzard find the extent of your exploit to be hazardous overall, they do have the right to permanantly ban you. Blizzard maintains the rights to search your computer for any hacks/illegal third-party programs, and if they do find such, even if you only had it briefly during the past, then they have more than any grounds to completely ban you.

Being the host of such an event could easily lead to this, while participating in the event may most likely not result in this. I've never seen Blizzard ban people on a mass scale, but if they would, this would be the time to do it. I support the Keeper of Secrets 100%, but please do so with good caution. Make sure to warn everyone of the possibilties, as some blokes are actually oblivious to them. Other than that, good luck, and have fun!

    -Nacho

EDIT: The reason GMs are so stingent about people going to their island is the fact that GMs who actually answer your tickets are NOT ingame; they do so from their safe little cubicals through a system outside of the game. The GMs you see ingame are infact Devs or high-ranking GMs surveying the game, whether for QA or developmental plans/issues. Seeings Devs use GM Island as a base for planning, so many people running around, distracting them and such can be quite the inconvinience, and being staff, they are obligated to do their job of enforcing the EULA (End-User Liscence Agreement).

As for Model Edits, I will just briefly say this: Blizzard finds them to be a bit sketchy. While some such as changing actual character models and item models for player interests is fine, manipulation of terrain in a way of altering its physical integrity, including addition or removal of static/nonstatic (moving and non-moving) objects is highly frowned upon, as players could exploit this to pass under, above, or through the world, as done frequently in BGs. So if you're just doing it to look cool, no sweat, but don't chisel at the mountain, or it might fall on you.

I love when people claim to know all kinds of detailed policies and procedures Blizzard has based solely on their (very limited) observation. "I've been banned once, SO I KNOW..." or "I've been to GM Island, SO I KNOW".....or the occasional person desperate enough to say "My friend is a GM, AND HE SAID....".

Why can't we all just agree that we don't know as much as we think we do? Going to a place like GM island and / or using hacks is a risk. It (like anything) *can* get you banned. Just because you've done it before and weren't banned doesn't mean it *can't* happen, and just because it's happened to someone else doesn't mean it *will* happen.

EDIT: I just had to comment on this from page 2:

Although I admit there's a slight possibility they send a programmer to me as to fix the prob.
Yes, a PROGRAMMER just hopped on in game to deal with your problem.....

    ..... /facepalm

There's a really good chance that GMs probably know about this event, seeing its been broadcasted in a lot of places. Will they do anything about it? Who knows. That might be how it goes down, or maybe it'll happen later on. Hopefully they get lucky, and everyone gets away with it and has a good time.

BTW, my post concerning the rules is only a theory, but it's the most solid one I could make; I've based it off of what ex-GM friends have told me, along with my own studies.

Better yet, it's not "your" account. The account and characters on it stay property of Blizzard at all time.

Next day went to log in, banned, checked email 3 day ban for entering restricted areas.

So yeah, enjoy your bans raiders, you dont even need to get caught there, just being logged there will get u banned.
    Vendors? Nice private server bro.

been there on live, no vendors bud.
