Icy Veins + Frostbolt + Exploit = Win

Hey again peeps. As simple as it sounds, as simple as it is.

I'll make it quick and understandable, becuase I havn't got much time left! Dinnah inc!
Ok, this is like the exploit with the Elemental Mastery for shamans.
    Step 1: Cast Frostbolt.
Step 2: While casting Frostbolt, spam your Icy Veins.
Step 3: If you clicked fast enough, your castbar will say "failed", or something like that. But your bolt is still casted.
Step 4: Look at your buffs. You should see Icy Veins.
Step 5: If your Frostbolt havn't hit the target yet, It will be affected by Icy Veins.

Enjoy your extra 3 secs of Icy Veins.

Won't work as you said. The cast time is calculated when you actually start casting a spell, so for example if you manage to activate icy veins (or get a bloodlust) during the cast, it won't increase the casting speed of your current spell, it will only be applied on the next one. Same goes for an effect on next hit, like the icy veins "proc", it will only work on the next spell.

Edit: to illustrate it better, it's the same as applying a curse of shadow on a mob right before your shadowbolt hits it, your shadowbolt won't take the curse into account and will do normal damage.

Actually when I cast Curse of Tongues on a paladin casting Holy Light I can see a difference in cast time so I think this works, I don't have a mage to test this though

Cast time is calculated on the fly. I stack 3 arcane blast debuffs, then spam frostbolt, and when there's barely a second left on the debuff timer, I hit another arcane blast. I get a little longer than 1.5 second cast, but it still costs the normal 195 mana. I can see this working for frostbolt.

Seems like you got it wrong... Shamans have the spell called Elemental Mastery, which haves the same "bug".

Nonononononono, this can't work. I play both a paladin and a mage, and I can say from a lot of arenaing that if I'm casting and get CoTongues on me, the cast which has already started won't get any longer.

Same logic applies here. What might make it seem like your cast is "faster" is that thing blizzard applied in the last patch which is supposed to eliminate lag's effects on spell casting time (-> eliminating the use for macroed spells, using /stopspellcast).

its the same as combustion for firemages really, you can enable combustion AFTER you have cast your fireball, when the fireball hits the target you will see that your combustion is affected by the fireball.
