UB chest farming WITHOUT engineering

In the above linked post, one of the commenters states 'facts', the last of which being that there is no other way to pull the mobs without goblin engineering and the trinket mentioned. I disagree.

Magic Candle - Items - World of Warcraft ....the magic candles dropped by level 7 mobs in Elwynn. The candle is essentially a rank 1 fireball with a range of(i believe) 40 yds. I farmed out five of these, stealthed in and was able to target the Underbog Lurker(he pats around in a small radius and is only in range for part of it so i just spam clicked until the candle shot at him).

The drop rate on these is roughly 20%, the mob respawn decent...i got 5 in about 15 minutes i think...so thats 15 minutes of farming for an hour worth of chests. So, it's definitely not Mech, but I'll take what I can get. Enjoy, and farm away!

i didnt reset it just went out & in.

oh and as a druid u can use soothe animal till u get a resist! (they resistet my rank 4 more often than my rank 3)

thanx for the rep guys, glad you enjoy...this was one of several items i farmed out to check range. i was really sad the explosive rockets had a 35 yard range cuz u get 15 of them(non-BoP) for a level 7ish quest...which turns into about 35 minutes of playing an alt for 3 hours worth of farming. ill keep those in mind for later tho. =P

I wrote it in the other thread. There is one other way with the Helm of Fire. And one more wich is not tested, but i think it's possible. The Six Demon bag trinket, if some1 have it please test it and see if this works.

Awesome, going right now to farm some candles.

Is the chest always there in heroic? Can it be done in regular as well? I know I've done a few reg UB where the chest isn't there.

EDIT: I was able to farm 3 of the Magic Candles within 15 minutes, and they DO WORK! I was able to stealth into Regular UB (I'm not specc'd MoD) and was able to loot the chest 3 times. +Rep !

I also posted for rogues that if you have ruthlessness, you can CS for combo points on the lurker, get out of combat in the water. Continue to the pull location and hit SnD, 60% chance to get a combo point from a finisher, if it procs, it will aggro the lurker.

Really good for Rogues but not so much for Druids as sometimes the chest is locked

Might be and idea if your not a rogue to get a good friend who is one to go with you for those locked chests.

*Edit. Actually 8 times out of 10 the chest is locked. Think Blizzard may of found out about this one too and changed it already.

I felt like bumping this because it IS in fact a valid alternative to the engineering tactic. After about 20 runs I got on average:

-6 gold per chest
-1 to 5 Super Health Pots
-A random green which sells to a vendor for about 5G
-A completely random scroll
-Mostly cheap green uncut gems, but twice got a blue gem which sold for 50g on my realms AH.

IMO it isn't the MOST effecient way to farm money, but it is still viable, and a good one at that.

All in all, after about 20 runs, AH'ing the good gems and vendoring the trash greens, I got about 400 gold. Not bad for about 3 hours work.
