You can also do this with an account with no game time on it...not sure about banned accounts and Trial accounts.

.. also, they usually fix their PTR database so you can't play with old suspended/banned accounts even on PTR these days, at least I can't..

You can't log into banned accounts to make the character copies in the first place. Makes it rather boring, but you can probably still log into them.

Works 100% on accounts out of time though. Welcome to 2 years ago >.>

I can't login to PTR, says bad password. lawl.PTR Account database wasn't updated since ever, so if you were out of GameTime before 2.3 patch, you can't enter PTR, same with banned accounts.
