Avoid sinking and taking damage when jumping into water

There is an easy way to avoid falling damage when jumping in water, if youre lucky you might even avoid taking damage without using this little trick, but most of the time when you jump in water you will sink down to the bottom, hit the floor and instantly die.
-You will fall deeper if you jump from a higher place, this if you dont jump from a high place you might not sink entirely to the bottom, but when your jumping from higher places you will usually die...

Some of you people might allready know this but it seems that not everyone knows this, its very simple... mount up, once you hit the water you will dismount but you wont sink down to the bottom, it doesnt even matter from how high you fell, this can be used in many cases to save time.
One case that comes to my mind is the back entrance of Karazhan, stand on the side of the bridge so you can mount up, jump down into the river, you will dismount without taking any damage

As i said, sometimes you dont take any damage at all, sometimes you are unlucky (in that case i was unlucky all the time because i always died) and sink down to the bottom of the river, you hit the floor and you die, but when you are mounted you will never sink, and yes you can mount up up there, just stand on one of the sides of the bridge.

When you get damaged falling into water, it's because you land too close to the edges. Aim for the middle of the river/lake/w/e and you'll completely avoid damage.

I haven't taken damage falling in water and I've jumped off Teldrassil. But I think you would only fall to the bottom if you're lagging a lot.

I've jumped off a cliff, couldnt see the bottom, landed in undeep water, didnt died nor sinked. This post is nonsens. Just aim for the right spot.

I once as far as I could above a lake, I was dead in the center... Canceled Flight Form and fell, just for fun... No lag at all - fell straight through, hit the ground and 'You are dead. Lol.'

It's a problem with your graphics accelerators. Actual server latency doesn't come into play. If your computer doesn't read that you have hit water, it will fall faster than it should.


This post is BS, and it really has absolutely nothing to do with mounts. The guy just has a bad computer, and because mounts cause you to dismount as you hit water, it gives the computer enough time to react to you hitting water.

Sorry to sound so blunt, but the only thing this thread is telling me is that you can avoid fall damage by jumping into the water. As several have pointed out, when you take damage it's either due to not being out far enough, or latency issues.
