Avoid sinking and taking damage when jumping into water

I have never died when jumping down from the backdoor entrance

I jumped off some place in STV and I died when I hit the water. I just tried with mount and didn't die. I did it like 4 times.

It all depends on how you look, lets say your camera straight to the ground and hold right-mouse button and jump, then you will fall down and die.
But if you look up in the air and hold right-mouse you will not die, and maybe not even sink at all.
