I assume the difference is:
- Circumventing game mechanics
vs - Clever use of game mechanics
Somewhat of a hard line to draw, without explicit use of glitches. =/
Boss skipping itself is an exploit, pure and simple. Written instructions are required for exploits, if those are supplied there is no issue.
Btw I think boss skipping can be very powerful in certain circumstances. I wouldn't call it niche at all.

I think its dumb to have to write an exploit when there's a video showing you how to do it. But that's just me.

It was made a rule because there was a ton of people just posting threads with a youtube link and nothing written in the thread at all. Also there are people that are on very restricted network, data limit, certain websites blocked etc, and why should they be excluded from the exploits posted on here? OC isn't a youtube video sharing site. ^^

Why would it be a shame to post something in the exploration section ?
Tired to see people disregarding explorations and seeing exploits as the only interesting thing on OC. Exploiters and Explorers aren't so different from each others, please respect both.
Shiekrunner123 : thank you for your post, it's a nice little exploration, have some rep!

so before i click that video i need to make sure the url actualy gets me to youtube... then i have to pray the video is related to the topic name... then i usually have to watch 5min talk about sh*t, sub to me, like this etc before the OP tells me how to do it... then 5mins of looooooooooooong explaining so you make it to the 10min mark for more youtube $$$... or you follow rules that are set here and you agree with them when you made the post.

Just my experience: when I have had something which was marginal as to whether it could be posted in exploits eg exploration eg the mage boat/shimmer glitch I generally posted it in exploration.
The traffic was about the same as with exploits: however the feedback was more positive and I got more comments/likes etc than when I post in exploits. That helps a lot with seo. You tend not to get so much traffic early on but your post doesn't tend to get shoved down the page as fast so it balances out.
Any time I discover something explorers might be interested in I look forward to posting there. Partly because there are some great people there: but also for purely selfish reasons in that my channel growth benefits.

The difference is that the shimmer glitch was a whole new method to bypass barriers. This one, though, has been known for ages. The only thing it shows us is a spot to perform that method. And a spot, in my oppinion, is not an exploit.
However, things like this happen, what counts is the contribution.
