Great find for the OP!
Thanks!
Man I must have bad luck, did it 16 times. First with toons who were already 100 then until I hit the cap each hour.
You get it from the "special gift" right? Not the stolen present?

So I tried this a lot of times now... never got the Ragnaros Illusion. But several Winter's Grasp already.
Someone told me that the Stolen Present can contain the Ragnaros Illusion aswell which I highly doubt.
He then pointed me to wowhead comments which state that they received it from the Stolen Present and a twitter from a blue which said it will be in there this year.
However I just don't believe it is really in the loottable from the Stolen Present.
Anyone knows what's the weekly cap on trial chars? Might need to reactivate another account... sigh

I got my rag illusion from the daily quest not the follow up one.
Doesn't really matter though, you can do both quests on a trial account.

He didn't say it "needed" to be a BoA, he asked if it was.
So in essence, you could have just said yes and explained that the effect goes in your Appearance Collection.

IDK wtf it is but since Saturday of last week I have been getting the "weekly limit" message upon trying to make new trials. And we have gone through a server reset on Tuesday since than. Is this more strict than normal? I feel like its a lot longer than usual

For alliance:
1. Create Dwarf mage lvl 100 trial
2. teleport to Ironforge and pickup quest
3. use your HS (will take you to SW)
4. speak with Recruiter Lee to get teleported to Dalaran
5. run to center of dalaran and use portal to crater of dalaran.
6. when quest is completed, use portal to IF again.
7. Rinse and repeat.

i cannot test because im the same case that Kenneth, i reached the cap on saturday, and im crossing fingers because i love that fiery enchant

My weekly cap just lifted. I can confirm that this is still working.
I assume the false alarm was someone not knowing there there's a weekly cap on trial characters.
Edit - Tested on NA.

Finally got my Flames of Ragnaros off the daily gift. Started to farm with 12 chars + trial chars. Took me a week to get both. Finally the grind is over, amen.
