Scale of the Sands Rep GM advantage taking

A friend of mine found out that little Exploit, not really an exploit more taking advantage of GM's.

What to do?

- You have to be attuned for Mount Hyjal (Kael'thas n' Vashj slain)
- If you follow the quest chain, you get a ring as reward.
- For example, you're a mage, who knowingly had taken the wrong ring, let's
say the melee ring, instead of your actual caster ring.
- Open a ticket and wait for reply of a GM, tell him you have chosen the
wrong ring!
- He'll (GM) resets the quest and you can turn it in and gain 250 Rep again for
the 2nd time.
- Now, once again you can choose between the 4 rings (Caster, Melee,
Tank, Healer). It's up to you, which choice you're going to do. Take the right
or wrong ring. If you take the wrong ring again, just follow the tasks listed
above.

One advise to all of you. Just do this exploit/trick when you have completed the quest for Mount Hyjal Attunement and are new to the quest. This means your friendly to Scale of the Sands and have never seen it before. If you're redoing this tasks above on a higher rep GM's could be quicker suspicious of you.

My friend mentioned that GM's are shift working employees, so wait until you repeat this exploit. I think you can do this 3 times a day. hopefully you're account won't be marked by a gm as "quest reseted" or sth. like that.

Two of my guild members chose the wrong ring on our first night of Hyjal. The GM's will NOT reimburse you, and they tell you that you need to wait till exalted to turn in your rings for the correct one, which takes a few months with the current amount of rep for a full Hyjal clear.

They petitioned over 10 GM's total and no dice.

if i remember correctly, you are allowed only one switch like this per account. For example on my paladin i chose the wrong violet signet, and the quest was reset. But now i have used up this one swap chance, i wouldn't be able to do it again.

i had a lot of luck with this and the AQ and Kara rings.. had them changed 6 times...

They made these rings just like the violet eye ones where if you mispick you have to wait for exalted and pay 65g to repick your ring. They will no longer reset the quest for you.

aah, my bad. I was under the impression that it is the same as restoring characters, only one per account. (if that is even true? :S)

It is important to note that this may use one of your accounts restores.
If they do not mention the limited number of restores in your conversation, then it does not.

this is correct, very correct, you dont wanna use one of your restores only to get some more rep, remember that guys.

As with everything concerning GMs, it is always lucked based.
If it doesn't work on the first try, retry until you get a GM kind enough to do it.

Be polite, be very polite. Act as if you are completely clueless about your issue and be sorry about it.

I'm not going to try to put my word up against Kurios' :wave:. But you used to be able to do it for the VE (Kara) rings, and I had to do it myself once since I changed my priest from shadow to holy. And I hit exalted quickly since that's all my guild could do. And there wasn't an option to change rings at first, that was a patch update. So now the GM's have an excuse to not change your ring so they don't get 50 reports a day about it. It may have been why you got it to work with the VE rings, Kurios. But I have yet to try with the Mount Hyjal ones, so it may just be GM luck?
