[possible] way to play on expired account

I don't have any friends with expired accounts to have test this, but when my subscription expired, I was able to log in and play by launching the executable in the wow folder instead of using the launcher. I've been playing for 2 days like this and the website shows my account as "Frozen" but I'm still able to log in and play normally. It might be something else causing this, but launching the executable is the only thing I did differently than normal. If anyone with a frozen account could test this or help me figure out how this is happening so that I can try and replicate it I would appreciate it.

Sometimes they give everybody with an active subscription free game time because of server downtime or just general inconvenience related to the game. Your sub ended but you still have some additional time left that was added by blizzard to compensate.

When I go to my account history it shows all credit has expired, and the launcher won't even let me launch the game. It's grayed out and the "Subscription expired" button is there. I even got kicked off the game when my account expired two nights ago.

theory is something that has not yet been put into practical use. the OP shows merely his experience (practical) and tries to put it into words.

How exactly have you been playing? Have you actually raided, LFD'ed, farmed something?

Blizzard is starting to give players that run out of time the same shit as "Free to Play" players with limitations to what they can do.

The only time I stayed on after my sub was when I was in SW campin' out waiting for it. Lasted until I had a loading screen.

I've done LFR, a pug normal BRF, traded 100k+ gold at a time, and mailed and COD items. I'm on US servers, and I'm still playing on the expired account as of right now. I called blizzard and they confirmed that my account was inactive and couldn't tell me anything about what might be happening other than that they'll "look into it." So I have no idea what's causing this to be possible, if anyone has any theories or questions I'll try to answer them so we can try to find what's really happening.

When you pay via credit card, there is sometimes "grace period" between "payment try" and disabling your account. It is there for situation, when payment processing is longer then usual. Usually this grace period last 2-3days

This. I changed cards last month but didn't update my info. My account was labeled as "frozen" but I was able to play for almost a week after the old card was declined.
