    Arcane Blast "Tip"

Just thought i'd post a tip which i think is usefull as a PvE arcane mage -

Well I found out that when you get Arcane Blast Debuff you can cast Arcane blast 2.25 sec for the same amount of mana as the 3 sec cast if you manage to finish the spell after the debuff runs out -
( Debuff = mana increase of AB and it lasts 6 seconds )

So what i ussually do in raid, is AB (2.5 sec ) - Arcane missiles ( Which is 5 seconds channeling ) and then AB (2.17 sec) - arcane missiles - AB (2.5 sec ) and continue that cycle -

not sure this is an exploit or not but it might be usefull to some of you mages out there- Hope i was of help

This is indeed an exploit of faulty coding.

    Grats for finding it, sir.

    Re: Arcane Blast "Tip"

I dont understand whatever the hell your trying to say lol! But it sounds like the "macro" every good PvE mage knows, ABx3 -> AM -> Scorch -> repeat. by the time your get scorch off your AB debuff timer will say "0". quickly cast AB again and it will be the speed of the 3 debuff cast but the mana cost is of the no debuff cast (127 i think). Duh...

Oh and Kalei your so stupid, you saw his post when he made it easier to understand, not when it was hard to understand. QFT

His post is quite clear, and I would say his is in fact clearer than yours (yours says the same thing), I don't see how you can't understand it...

    Re: Arcane Blast "Tip"

This isn't an exploit or anything. That's exactly how Arcane Blast is designed. It's also exactly the same rotation that Arcane Mages use when fighting mobs.

    Re: Arcane Blast "Tip"

Are you sure this works? I didn't test exactly this method but I believe the newly cast Arcane Blast takes not only the cast time but also the mana cost of the debuff, even if the cast ends when the debuff isn't there anymore. I believe AB fixes the mana cost when you start casting it, but I may be wrong.

    Anyone who can confirm this?

    Re: Arcane Blast "Tip"

Basically the idea is, you cast Arcane Blast so you get the increased cast time, but the debuff fades before it fires, so you don't pay the increased mana cost. Can't see Blizzard being able to fix this Would take too much effort.

    Re: Arcane Blast "Tip"

    This isn't an exploit.

The mana cost of ANY spell is determined at the end of cast not the beginning, I believe this was fixed long ago with regen and the five second rule. As someone posted earlier, the standard rotation is abx3, am, fireblast(scorch for low mana), repeat. However all buffs are determined at the cast of the spell, so if ap has 1 second left you can am for five seconds and get ap for full duration. So this is why it works like that, at the start of the cast you have the debuffx3 gaining the haste buff however when the spell finishes it's cast the debuff is gone and doesnt have the huge mana cost.

    Re: Arcane Blast "Tip"

every raiding arcane mage already knows this, and uses it. It's not an exploit
