A few quick things:

1) Repost
2) You do not need to kill anything. There are two vendors in the Shrine area that you can talk to who will start you with Golden Lotus and August Celestial rep.
3) This can be done from level 15 on up. I've been doing it with my rogue.
4) All you need is a port to the Shrine which is super easy to get by begging in Stormwind.
5) There is a bug: If you choose the rep to champion from your rep screen this will not work.
6) To fix the bug. Remove the championing for that rep from your rep screen. Wait for a weekly reset. Choose the rep from your LFD screen.

been playing MOP since release - never heard of drakkari warbringers. could you link a token from wowhead maybe?

By Drakkari Warbringers I meant Zandalari Warbringers. There are 4 different rare spawns, and they can all drop boa tokens that give 1000 rep with Golden Lotus, Klaxxi, August Celestials and Shado-Pan.

And they can also drop from Zandalari Warscouts that are easier to kill.
