DC Spot: troll your friends!

Hello Ownedcore!

I wanted to share this small exploit I found. If you jump out in the lava at the elite mob in the "Firelands Forgeworks" in Mount Hyjal you will DC and when you log in, you will DC again, and again, and again.. and .. yeah, you get the point.
There is usually a lot of pvp at this area on the highpopulated realms and if you are a boomkin you could have some fun typhooning people out in the lava to be stuck for a long while

If you are a low level you will die by the lava after a couple of logins and dc's but if you log into your friends account and log a 90, he will probably have to contact a gm

It must be that you trigger one of the 'invisible thing' that dc you when you're under the ground (explorers will know what i'm talking about). Except this one is above the ground..

i got stuck for like 15 minutes, then i had to record it so i got stuck for 15 more.. :P

Blizz put a mechanic in the game where it DCs you if you reach water/lava that you shouldn't be able to get to normally, similar to how you get disconnected when flying underground, except this mechanic has been in the game for much longer. I think it was intended to catch out people who use noclip or other hacks. Nice job finding one above ground!

How did u get down there with a lvl 80? Don't u need the Quest which is for lvl 81? I can't get there atm

This doesn't happen just there. i was gather botting one night and it got to a very high point (can't remember where) of Hyjal and it just kept dcing every time.

Actually, you are completely wrong.

You disconnect when your client sends a "swim" packet in an area which the server is defined as "NoWater". For example, if you are in the Dalaran Sewers and you get into water and swim down through the walls with a hack, the client will think that the water extends to Y: -17056. But in reality when you reach an area that has no water but your client is still sending a "swim" packet, the server will d/c you.

Another example is if you model-edit something and gets there on live server and swims in a patch of water, you will get instadc because client sends a swim packet which the server cannot acknowledge.

This is just a bugged server area, a hotfix can fix this very easily...
