    Kill your own faction

As I vaguely recall someone else posted, it is possible to use the engineer's mind control dish
to control someone else's target and take them out of combat. This bypasses the "target is
tapped" error message when you try to sheep a target to annoy some lowbie or horde player.

However, when the device backfires, one of the possibilities is that you become the target's
pet. For dps classes you'll then find yourself auto-attacking any other hostile targets in the
area. Tested this just now in the human starting area and one-shotted a level 3 priest with my main,
    poor guy.
Don't know if this will work with horde lowbies.

I don't think this is working has intended, mind controlling a tapped mob. It never worked as a priest.

Getting a backfire from the mind control dish and attacking your own faction is very harassing. Will test this.

Uh-huh. So, Blizzard makes it impossible for members of the same faction to attack each other without their explicit consent. They make it so that you can't be attacked by the opposite faction unless you are flagged for combat. They fill up the starting areas with invincible lvl 95 elite guards to protect new players.

No, I don't think they want new players one-shotted by members of their own faction.

It's working as intended - MC dish has always had a chance to backfire, turning you hostile.

It just so happens that the OP was using it on low level mobs, where the only hostile thing was low level players.

If it fails at relevant content to your level, you'll easily get owned by other players.

For example, done this plenty of times in AV where you can MC someone in Van's room, and make Van kill him --- yet if it backfires, you'll become hostile and get raped by your teammates.

The backfire effect is designed to make you attack party/raid members. It isn't designed to allow you to kill players you aren't affiliated with. They've fixed stuff like this in the past.

It actually makes you hostile to anyone who isn't your target/friendly to your target. I have been killed by people outside my party/raid before, when it has failed. Working as intended.

Not to mention that you can't really force a failed MC anyway, so the idea of using this to effectively troll could take someone hours because of the cooldown.

No, It doesn't make you hostile to any one who isn't your target. I tried this in the human starting area, the place is filled with NPC's of both factions and alliance players.

They fixed an identical exploit with the Goblin mortar only weeks ago, it clearly isn't working as intended.

You can greatly maximize the chances of a failed MC if you have abnormally low engineering skill for the tinker in question. And there are a lot of other applications of this other than trolling.
