I believe this to be false.

No more than 2 months ago, I read yet another one of these threads (not on OC), and it provided some insight.

The keypoints that was revealed was this:

Logitech paid blizzard for this funcitonality. They offered x amount of money for blizzard to add this feature to their keyboard. The feature was vaguely described as "allowing logitech software to provide information in its peripheral devices", with a list of information the logitech software would be able to "utilize". So basically blizzard opened/created some sort of hole, allowing logitech software to simply read these values from the games memory or what ever. (someone linked an article on some logitech webside, + some advertisement shit, to back this up, that there was a cooperation between logitech and blizzard. I'm sure you can find it using google.

Later as the game developed, this feature became controversial. As you all know, it is more rewarding to do random battleground that it is to specific sign for a battleground. However, because logitech had already paid for this feature as a permanent addition to their devices, blizzard will not be able to pull it.

Who knows, blizzard might lawyer up and try to fight themselves out of this. But this is the case regarding the information passed onto the keyboard as of now.

If anyone is interested in reverse engineering an app or small program to pull this data, your best bet is to look at the driver packages utilized by these keyboards, or even possibly the support software for adding profiles and stuff.
