A 'free' Violet Proto-drake

Fly with a Albino drake into Netherwing Ledge area, so you get transformed into a red orc on a Netherdrake. Then fly back out of the zone, and you will be mounted on the Violet Protodrake that comes with the What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been archievement. You will also have the Violet Protodrake buff on you, so it looks legit on screens of players that are targetting you.

No Albino drake? Just fly in Netherwing Ledge with -any- mount, fly back and you will be mounted on a Albino drake , now just fly back in and out again
Works on 2 EU servers. Patch 5.0.4 (16016 release X64)

I tried it and it kept me on the Dragonmaw Nether drake! It has a icon and all but this isnt a exploit..

This is very much indeed an exploit... Me and Snyth were messing around with this as well, and found out that it can change into almost any mount, we've gotten some junky mounts, but also gotten the SoR mount and Ashes of Alar even when you don't own it. I'll add a screenshot. +6 rep!

Wondering why it's not working for me... Maybe it has to do with rep? I'm only friendly. I do get transformed and my mount changed, however it does not change back when I fly out. Any ideas?

I need to know exactly what you did.

Here is what I found out:
Logging off on the netherdrake and logging back on lets you keep the Netherdrake once you leave.
Logging off resets the mount it remembers.

Once you move into the area it remembers what mount you are on, I moved in on a Hippogryph and even if I mounted something else and went out then it changed into a Hippogryph, this is also true if I went back in, on another mount, it still put me on a hippogryph once I came back out.

EDIT: I have figured it out!! If you see another player enter being transformed to the Netherdrake, it saves that mount on your side too.
This means if...say, someone enters with a Blue Dragonhawk in front of you, then if you enter and leave, you will also be on a Blue Dragonhawh.

EDIT2: Some characters also do not save for unknown reasons, they can still receive the mounts though.

EDIT3: It seems that if you are doing it cross faction, the member of the other faction has to go first, then the member of the current faction with the mount has to go, and then the member of the other faction has to go, and he/she will get the mount. The reason it did now save was because I sent the member of the current faction first, and it saved the other faction instead.

I need to know exactly what you did.

For me, i was just omw to the area for doing the rep grind quests. When i was done, i was leaving the area, and then noticed i was on a albino drake. Since i was sure i didnt mount the albino in 1rst place (dont have that on my actionbars), i flew back, and left the area again and then had the violet proto. When i discovered the glitch, i reproduced it around 10 times. Flew in with -any- mount gave me the albino and flew in with albino gave me the violet proto.
Between the reproduction tests, i wanted to make sure it was not only me seeing the violet, so i logged out, deleted my cache folders, and reproduced it 2 more times with same results.

I flew to Orgrimmar by not dismounting the violet drake (using the portal near the DarkPortal), once in Orgrimmar, i let my guildies confirm i was on the violet protodrake and having the legit buff.
After this, i told a RealID friend about my findings, and he confirmed working on his realm, the same results, altough he didnt even had the 50mount archievement, he'd managed to transform to the Albino drake and the Violet Protodrake after.
I can't tell if there was someone in the area as well, i didnt spot anyone there. Also, my RealID friend, playing on a "new players" realm, small chance there was someone there as well.

Ok, i think the Topic Title have to be changed. Today when i came home from work, i decided to reproduce the glitch again. Although i did it like 10 times yesterday, wanted to verify it again.
This time, it didnt give me the Violet Protodrake instead a Dragonmaw Netherdrake.

I can confirm Gurlaus story.. It remembers the last player mount.

Did the mounts appeared in mountbook? Or it's just until you dismount it

I'm getting dismounted once I get back to SMW perhaps it try to mount me to mount that I don't have
