Loot items without rolling.

Well this happened purely by accident.

I had joined this group as a tank, the old one left apparently.

Pulled the boss. Healer herp derped and didn't even bother to heal me.
I died. He casted CR on me just as I left the group, so I got to the graveyard outside of the group with the option to accept ress.
So I thought, hell why not, I accepted the ress and I got ported back into the instance with the other people from different realms, but I wasn't in the group.
They had killed the boss and were rolling on loot when I got in, but I could loot the boss on my screen. So I tried looting it (Had auto loot on) and I got the message "Looting this will bind it to you" and I clicked yes, and I looted an epic item while other people were rolling on it.

Going to try and recreate this.

TL;DR

Join group.
Pull boss.
Die.
Leave group as healer casts CR on you.
(Make sure they're going to kill the boss)
Get to gy with CR request.
Accept ress, get ported into dungeon.
Loot dead boss.
Win.

Edit: I understand this is relying on a lot of ifs, but it's worth it if you manage to pull it off.

Also in another group now, going to try and do this again.

Lmao, sounds pretty awesome. By chance were you able to find out if the item was still able to be traded? I have a friend I run zandalari's with who is a DK with CR obviously so if we were in a fail group I might try this and we get off with the loot.

No idea if it's tradeable, I got ported out after like 30 seconds. Just barely got the loot and ported. I doubt it though because it's the people you were in a group with...

It's anyone who was eligible for the loot when it dropped. So if you were able to loot it on your own, and they were rolling on it, then yes you can trade it.

Like I said, no idea. I joined a totally random group. I'll try and recreate tomorrow with a guildy.

You naughty! Sounds awesome, also seems like a good idea to be doing this with a druid friend instead of on your own. He can both cr you and wait with rolling so you get the time to loot the item. Cheers! +rep

I can confirm this not as the joyous ninja, but as a victim. I was in ZA, and we had a dude die on the last boss with us in the wipe, and he was a derp and afk'd on us when we were trying to res him. We vote kick him after a minute, get a new guy, and blammo; my dps shoulders (plate) drop! I was overjoyed, so I clicked ne- wait...didn't we just boot you? Hunter from a moment ago (deadbeat) walks up, loots boss, and leaves via teleport. I win the roll on the shoulders, and don't get em. I go to the boss, and all that exists in his corpse is the orb that nobody rolled on.

It works, and good job finding and contributing it, but damn that bastard. I didn't even catch his name.

Being the tank yea I tagged it first, didn't actually think of that. I'll test it with a dps when the tank tags it and i'll return back.
