Halfus Exploit - Dont tank Storm Rider

Halfus encounter may require you to tank the Storm Rider add during the fight. I am a warrior tank, I was able to build initial threat on Storm Rider and move to a position where I had agro but didn't take any further melee damage from the Storm Rider providing I didnt move.

As the boss approaches 50% and downwards he does a roar which means all tanks are exposed to damage from any targets they are tanking. By reducing the number of exposed tanks greatly improves the sucess rate of the fight.

To do this you need to move sideways out of the dragons melee range until your attack icons turn red. Moving backwards doesn't work reliably enough as the dragon will compensate for the distance between you and get back into melee range

The reason this works is that the dragons attack range is smaller than the distance which triggers the dragon to move to an out of range target.

terribly explained and that picture doesn't help at all. you're just strafing slightly away from the dragon so your stuff turns red and at a certain distance he wont move to hit you? Or is there a physical location this happens at. I'll rep if i can actually figure out how to do this

also, I hope this gets fixed... raiding is actually hard now and doesn't deserve to be trivialized by exploits

I didnt mention a specific location for this to take place - or i would have probably mentioned that? I spent 3 paragraphs explaining the exploit I really dont see how its hard to get.

The dragon is selected so it shows the relevant distance, you stand perpendicular to the dragon and strafe out gradually increasing the distance between you and the dragon rather than just backing out from it.

As for the complaint Im posting an exploit on an exploit forum, sorry. (???)

Noticed this when we had tanks die and a mage pulled Storm Rider. He just sat there on top of the mage doing nothing. It was pretty entertaining.

You mean on Heroic? And on Heroic, you have to kill all adds that spawn, or you can't kill it.

THANK YOU + REP. Your post was pretty unclear. you said just attack the dragon and back off (not backwards) from him until he cant attack you which just shouldn't happen. Thanks for the clarification

I just got one of the top 100 kills on this boss with the hardest combination possible so it pisses me off when kids think they're good for cheating an encounter.

And to clov... yer dumb, why wouldn't I rep someone in a community that figured out something cool.
