I tried this last year in strat near baron, there is a portal behind a gate that seems to never open. I did manage to get into the portal but nothing happened.

That raid portal was intended to lead to old Naxxramas actually - as the Citadel was floating above the Plaguelands pre-WotLK. However, they dropped the plan at one point when they probably realised how stupid it was to enter a raid through a 5-man (hi BWL! hi MC!) and implemented a teleporter in the Plaguelands instead.
