    PROOF Blizz can check IP's

I was creating a trial account the other day from my normal IP. It wouldnt let me, meaning my IP has been flagged to not let me. I turned on IP Hider and created an account no problem. SO they do check IP'son their website, why wouldnt they in their account database? The bad part of this is if you have an account you have glided and one you havent it still could be at risk. :fu:

If i am an idiot post away constructive critcism helps. Other wise post you thoughts on this.

Re: PROOF Blizz can check IP's

There is a little thing called a flaoting IP address system that some ISP's use... meaning each time you connect to the internet your ISP allocates you a new IP to use untill you restart your internet..... therefore each and everytime you use the internet you have a different IP address

Perhaps your ISP doesn't apply to floating IP address system ^.^

perhaps bilzzard stopped issueing trial accounts after the banwave on june 11. for a while you could not get trial accounts from their website, now you can.

This isn't really proof at all, be careful when you make your titles.

Nah, it's not breaking any law. They are smart enough to cover their asses.

EULA, Paragraph 5, states that by accepting the agreement (hitting the "accept" button on EULA when you first install the game, and after any patch), that you wholly consent to "The Game" being able to actively monitor your computer's RAM.

Incase you want to check, EULA can be found here -> http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/eula.html

Re: PROOF Blizz can check IP's

Maq- Beat me to it. Yeah, you clicking accept on that EULA when you opened an account and after every patch, allows them to do almost anything to your pc. Including, but not limited to looking at and reporting the contents of your RAM, the ability to change the EULA without informing you, force you to arbitration (although you can normally still go to court if you want), governing law (meaning you get to use both US laws and your country's law, and Blizzard is only responsible for US law)...ect

There't the problem, you were using a horrible browser. Firefox is better.

that probably wasn't the problem but firefox is still better.

Re: PROOF Blizz can check IP's

They have stated that they don't ban just by IPs for many reasons. The one they gave was I think it's to easy to get around.

Though, I would imagian they have a "blacklist" of IPs.

I do know they check them though. Thats how they catch a lot of power levelers and what not.

Did it give you the message about you made too many trial accounts?

Re: PROOF Blizz can check IP's

Ya it in the EULA so if you hit that little accept with out reading it its your problem. Tho didn't they not have it at first and that's what got people mad then they put it in so people can't go well they never said anything.

Re: PROOF Blizz can check IP's

If Blizzard banned IPs, then, according to what Voumerus said, they would be blocking other truly legit players who also use dynamic IPs. I'm sure dynamic IPs are used again from other clients on that ISP, and with the number if WoW players, it would not be impractical for another player to get that banend IP. Therefore, I feel Blizzard doesn't ban IPs.
