More points than you know what to do with! (Hunter Ferocity Pet talent trick)

Ok, so last night while doing 3s I decided to try going BM but didnt have a lvl 80 exotic pet tamed, so I just used my wolf that I normally use for pve and figured that would be fine. As you hunter should know with the 51 point Beast Mastery Talent you get 4 additional talent points to use for your pet. Well after about 20 games, I got bored and went back to Survival, put the wolf back in the stable and used my pvp spider pet for the rest of our games. TODAY when I logged in and used my wolf for PVE with my MM spec I noticed that my dps had picked up a little bit and was trying to find out the cause.....after exhausting my gear checks i finally went to check my PET talent points and saw that I had unused points...also that the points from the BM spec I used from the day prior had not been removed and that somehow I had 16 ADDITIONAL POINTS TO SPEND! So before chocking it up to a bug, I spent the remaining points and logged out. Logged back in and the points were still there, respecced out of my current spec put my talent points in, called out my pet and THIS is the screen I saw:

Now look at my talent points for my pet, I have them ALL maxed out and I STILL have unused points remaining. I tried duping this on other pets and it seems the bug only works for Ferocity pets only as far as the absurd amount of additional points are concerned (my spider only got the 4 additional points, not the 16 as shown in the picture). So hunter have fun while this trick last before Blizz finds out and fixes it

    ps-sorry for the long story

Because its not a goddamn guide perhaps? And what is off subject? I explained everything that happened to the point of finding out the exploit in the hopes that someone else who may have encountered this before or could tell me how its a repost somewhere on the site that I dont know about. There actually IS a method to the madness before you call yourself poking fun.

sigh* ok since you still done quite understand I'll break it down for you:

step 1 - ferocity pet (non exotic)
step 2 - spec BM all the way down to the 51 pt talent which gives you the extra points
step 3 - use all the available points you now have for your pet
step 4 - unlearn those talents and go to a new spec ( ie, 7/57/7 MM build)
    step 5 - call pet
step 6 - you should now still have the extra added points that you get from the Beast Mastery talent
    step 7 - ??????
    step 8 - profit

    Didn't work for me.

had my wolf on me, specced BM.
    Used the new talents.
    Stabled him.
Used the new talents on another pet (not exotic).
    Switched back to MM.
    Pulled out my wolf.

Talents were reset. Nothing out of the ordinary.

This has happened to me twice during respecs. Both times, it was a BAD thing.

DPS did not improve, in fact, it was a great deal lower.

Yes, visually, there are more points, but your pet acts as though NO points have been spent(no AOE protection, for instance).

So I can confirm the visual bug, but it looks like a detraction, not a benefit.

The extra points, obviously, can only be spent in trees that don't already have point's spent in them. Thing is, when you pull your pet out for the first time after the respec, 20 points look as though they are already spent(talents already ticked upwards).

You'll note in the screenie that he seems to have 36 points assigned, but still has 16 of the points left from the 20 that he shows as unspent points. That's because as he assigned them to the ones that were empty, they didn't tick off from unspent. He was only able to tick off four of them, even though he has all the talents filled up. They stopped coming out of unspent after the 4th talent point was assigned.

Sorry man. I was pretty psyched when I first had this happen to me too, but way less psyched when I did it again... since I was at a raid after the most recent talent point refund and realized my pet was going to be dying like crazy and doing crap DPS until I could get him to a pet trainer.
