I wonder if you could use a summon stone to re-locate the mammoth...

I could think of a few places where an impromptu tank could be useful.

If im allowed to add something -> When someone want to do the arena Quests and enormos spawns, just steal them the mammoth and walk out of the arena, the Mammoth and Boss despawns and quest is failure. Repat and piss people off.
