Partial despawn in Icecrown for easy mining

Hi all,

Today I was levlling and started out in Icecrown doing the Vanguard questline. When I picked up 'The last Line of Defense'. Only to realize that I didn't have my flying mount nor the money to get it yet.

Now the thing is that after getting to this quest a part of Icecrown is instanced for the battle outside the Vanguard camp, but I started riding around a bit. Only to realize that you can get around a bit and NODES still spawn around the area whilst there aren't any mobs.

Well even though it's not a huge area it does host a few nodes and these are now extremly easy to farm just doing full laps. Just don't complete the quest.

I haven't tried logging out yet, but would imagine that the area will stay the same untill I actually complete.



To sum up:

• Go to Icecrown
  Start the questline with: If There Are Survivors...
  Continue until you complete: A Cold Front Approaches
  Don't do the last quest in the line
  Go Mining/Herbing

This could be useful for miners; mine ores alone ^^

Could be, its not like the mobs in there really hurt, unless you get close to those sentry's and get stuck in combat.

Would be good for avoiding mobs, but the nodes inside the instanced area are the same as those outside. I've been mining a node before just to have someone in the instanced zone take it instead.

Guess I did fail to mention that the nodes are the same inside as outside.

Kind of not an exploit if u can gather em outside the instanced area

It's still an interesting exploit, as you can (I presume) use this to mine nodes on the bottom floor of Icecrown, as normally they're surrounded by extremely annoying mobs.

No matter what this could be interesting, maybe also in other instanced areas that you come across.
