Confirmed working and epic.

You only need to open one crate per gate (2 for the Slaughter Square main entrance gates, 1 for the outer door, 1 for the door to Baron's room) so 4 in total. I also think there is a ranged thing involved here so you need to be somewhat close to the gate/door when you open the crate. I have not tested this but it seems logical.

This is how it works.
When you destroy a crate the gate NEAREST the crate will despawn.
I usually have to destroy 5-6 crates depending on which ones open and which ones gets destroyed.
