    Extra crit from combustion.

This is useful but really specific. In order to get a 4th crit from your combustion skill, you must:

    1) Count the number of crits you have currently used.
    2) Have Fire Blast up.
    3) Have a bit of luck.

Now, from what I can tell your crit roll is done at the time you cast your spell and not at the time the spell hits the mob. What you need to do is after your second crit use fireball (assuming your % to crit is at least 60 or so) and right after (maybe even in the split second before the spell cast when you can queue a new spell) your spell is cast cast fireball. If you were lucky they both were crits.

Not extremely useful, but something I noticed while I was leveling a new mage char. I don't know if its actually a glitch (that until the fireball hits the combustion buff remains active) or if I've been lucky. But from my own trial and error I've done this successfully quite a few times.

Note: This only works if the fireball was rolled a crit, then the fire blast, too, will crit.

    Extra crit from combustion.

Is this happening every time you "try" for the 4th crit? otherwise it might be just that your getting a crit on the fireblast with not relation to combustion.

Thats hard to say, when I don't get a crit with fireball my Fire Blast usually will (being that I'll have a 70% or so to crit). But when my fireball crits so does my Fire Blast. Rather, if the Fireball crits in this scenario, every time I've seen a Fire Blast crit as well. Don't know if this is sheer luck or combustion, but again, its every time.

This is just like using shatter combos, except with Comb and Fireblast instead of Shatter and Ice Lance / Brain Freeze.

'xactly. I didn't see anything on the forums about using combustion though, so I figured I'd throw it out there.

Ps. my 6 key makes a funny noise now. Which is weird, I usually don't press it for many spells. :P

If you are saying after you pop combustion and get 2 crits, cast a fire spell, and while its in the air cast fireblast and the fireblast will still have that high crit chance, then you are way behind on the times. Anyone who has ever played a fire mage knows that.

Okay, for everyone saying common sense; no, I'm afraid it isn't.

If you program, you try very hard to have no exploits, bugs, etc. This being something that should be programmed more adequately I'd say, no, it's not common sense. Common sense would state that as soon as the fireball is cast the combustion is used up. But that would take a separate function and I'm sure Blizzard didn't want to add another one to their enormous library...

    EDIT:

Just like to add, that was for sake of argument. I'm not upset at all, if anything at least someone who doesn't know this will see it and learn from it.

    This is a joke right?

Are you going to make a thread about shatter combos and how we can sneak our ice lances in too?

Nice post for anyone who doesn't or just started to play a mage. Any mage that raids as fire know or should know this.

Fyi, you wrote cast fireball instead of cast fire blast at the end of the 2nd paragraph.

Good for anyone that doesn't know this, thanks for contributing.
