Potential In-Zone Instance Exploit

Hello there. Here we go again in attempts to contribute. I kind of got excited when this happened because hopefully someone can find a more useful way to utilize this exploit.

As you know, in Northrend the Zones have mini-instances within their respective zones. For example you do a quest, and the zone itself will change for you, reflecting how far you have progressed in a specific questline.

Well while 3boxing in Icecrown I got ahead of myself and accidentally finished some quests on 2 of the toons but not on another. Finishing those quests caused The Shadowvault to turn Friendly with ebon hold npc's in it, while the toon that didnt do the quest, had hostile npc's in it still.

We were in the same zone, same time, same area, just the "area instance" was diff for the two toons, due to the quest completion.





As you can see, we are grouped, in the same place, just diff "instances" of the same zone. Well as I was completing the quest, killing mobs, i noticed that the other 2 toons in the "friendly" instance were still getting xp, WHILE getting rest XP bonus and accruing rest xp at the same time. This in a way is sort of a "mini-infinate rest xp" type of situation.






havent tested the extent of how much you can interact with each other between the two instances. But it has the potential of being a good PL tool in many of the other zones with this type of in zone instance. Or im sure someone can find something creative to do with this.

i can confirm this is working the way the OP said... just happened with my buddy and I, he was doing quests there and i had my 80 hunter helping but hadnt done any with my hunter so had that happen then just killed mobs for a few hours while my buddy got all the rest xp from sitting in a inn lol

Whats he's basically saying is you can utilize the fact that 2 of your chars are in a rested zone whilst one is grinding outside of this zone. This is one of the easiest ways to get this situation, since normally theres a large gap between inns and mobs. Making inn farming hard.

As he said, its like "mini infinate rested" though you arnt getting the full 200%, you're getting like 140%...idk the exact maths since it depends on the players time to kill each mob.

Youd level faster than normal, but this isnt usefull to anyone but multiboxers. and i just bot mine ^^ so i dont come into any issues other than blizzard.

You people that say "what's the point of this?" to everything that seemingly does not have a use do not belong on this website. If any of you were "true" exploiters you'd be begging people to post every little exploit they find in hope of finding different situations to apply it to and expand upon. Half of my exploits come from stupid things people post here that everyone just looks right over, it's funny really. If I posted even 1/8th of my collection I'd get enough rep to become elite in one day.

The "point" is, there is interaction between characters that are otherwise more than likely not supposed to be able to interact with each other, in this case XP, and added rest xp as extra perk.

If you were ment to have any interaction with a character in a diff "instance" then you would be able to heal, trade, or at least have AOE affect them.

This is possibly a window to something greater in value than just whats posted at face value. Sometimes exploits can be found in unorthodoxed ways (twink items anyone).

summit i miss in this thread is the ogrimar/undercity For the alliance acheivement. When u do the chain in Dragonblight and go to the part where u gotta go to UC you can get into a raid, get to the boss room but its clear but everyone else in the raid will be able to kill him and you get the credit for the kill aswell. Same thing happened to couple of friends of me with the ogrimar but dno what quest they were on.

Its not a theory.

There is an unintended mechanic listed in the post.

Possible - means there may be more if someone plays around with it.
