Blast Wave dismount exploit?

I was browsing the WoW forums, and came across a thread about some guy complaining of getting dismounting mid air by a Mage using Blast Wave, then ofc slow falling to safety.

Not sure if it's true since I don't have a Mage, but will be fun if it does work, since Blizzard tried to stop this kind of exploiting by making you immune to polymorph when flying - this was the old method, so someone will have to test this out and see.

May also work with Druids Tyhoon if castable mid air (and then go Flight Form), or Shamans Thunderstorm (although the Shaman would also fall to his death without some form of slow fall item).

It may not be an exploit... but how is this working as intended? You aren't supposed to
be able to die in mid air. Hence how you can't be sheeped while on your flyer.
