It does if you're a newbie from "Finaland". Go get 1 green, and believe me your inventory overflows with greens after level 58. And sell it: you get about 2-6 gold. Auction it: 4-10 gold.

If you're lucky and get a purple world drop, auction it, it'll get you over 100 gold.

Oh, and the DK starting gear? It's worth 1 copper each. Happy selling.. But keep in mind that doing a daily, or killing mobs that're over level 55 (which is the initial level of a Death Knit) gets you a lot more gold than selling the starting items.
