can you elaborate on this? You have the hunter's pet puill him without getting one shotted, then the MT tanks him in the room? The rest of the raid is gonna get locked out, i've never heard of gruul's door not closing. I'm pretty sure the OP's way of doing it seems to be correct as others' stories generally revolve around having gruul switch main aggro via pets or ripping aggro etc.

I believe when the hunter's pet dies the hunter stands on the inside of the gate along with the rest of the raid and the gate bugs as Gruul aggroes onto the hunter, preventing it from closing.

After this, the tank can pick Gruul up and move him into the large room while the remainder of the raid stands in the hallway.

I don't think the OP's method works as you say it does, I see 1 or 2 people saying it was ineffective, and it certainly wasn't working for me.

I think that elaborates enough hopefully. Gates don't close b/c hunter stands behind them and sends pet in, aggroing Gruul. Pet dies, Gruul runs to hunter, bugging gate. That is what I'm gathering happens.

hrmm so you've actually done this and bugged gates to not close succesfully? Every time we did him when he was bugged the gates were shut. At what point does MT pick up gruul anyway?

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm hearing all around that this bugs him. Could you go more in depth as to how your method does it? It may be that both work, or one works, or neither. It's worth experimenting with. I'm just saying what I found out.

Tested about 10 times in Gruul today, for shits and giggles.

Didn't work once. Just my 2 cents.

My guild tried this when I wasn't with them and it didn't work.

Perhaps doing something similar to the mana-guys before curator would work better? Hunter shoots and then feigns directly to reset him. And THEN everyone charges in. Not sure how long it takes before everyone is taken into combat though.

Yeah, I'm not either, I couldn't get my guild to test it again, so I dunno.

Sorry mine was wrong, not sure how else it could be done besides the two methods listed.
