its not confusing at all, perfectly clear.

Warlock is on focus target or your target.

-He casts fear
-just before fear goes off on you, cast fear ward on yourself.
-the fear will be cast, and you will be immune, but you will still have the fear ward buff, which will make you immune to the next fear.

Therefore making you immune to 2 fears instead of one. and the next fear will b like 1-2 seconds because of DR.

If you don't understand that, then just cancel your account.
