Save time in Old Hillsbrad

This may be common knowledge, but I didn't see it on the forums so I thought I would post it.

If you have a rogue in your group for Old Hillsbrad (which most do), you can easily skip the first pulls of the barracks by having rogues stealth through and plant explosives. Rogue pretty much must have 5/5 Master of Deception and improved sap to my knowledge, as that is what I have. Haven't tested other ways so someone else can elaborate on that if they wish.

First off, BE CAREFUL OF THE PATROLS! One thing I really hate about Blizzard's design of stealth is the flaws that it has. This is a tad off-subject, but I want to vent it anyway. While stealthing through BRD (for Dark Iron..) those stupid demon dogs are 10+ lower level than me as a level 70 rogue. I can walk pretty much right by them out of stealth and they will not aggro because of the level difference, yet if I stealth, they aggro from 10+ yards away. /end rant.

Okay, stealth into the barracks, there is one guard that will patrol to the front and back of the barracks, sap him, plant the bomb. Some barrels that the bombs need to be planted in will be very close to the doors and impossible to plant from the inside without aggroing the two guards out front. If this is the case, move to the outside of the building and plant them through the walls.

Once you get the last bomb planted, a tank can sometimes get lucky and pull the boss without aggroing excess amounts of guards. But his loot isn't even all that great if you ask me, so it just saves my groups time to skip this area all together.

I haven't been able to test this on heroic yet, but I've heard horror stories of heroic mode on this boss (he hits for 9-10k on tanks). If someone wishes to test it on heroic and it works, even better.

Killing the mobs is defenately faster.... well in my groups Just aoe the whole place down.

Horror stories 'bout this dude in heroic? Hah. If you're doing this in herioic, then you should have the team that can do it without much trouble.

Trouble or not much trouble is still trouble. My post was obviously not stating that he isn't possible or is possible. I said that I had heard he hits for 9-10k non-crit on plate. Fully raid buffed and potioned up, a warrior will have what, 15k+ HP? And that's in mostly Karazhan loot. Hence those types of groups may not even run Old Hillsbrad. And if he hits for 9-10k non-crit on plate, a crit could surely one shot a decently geared tank.

Anyway! The point of this post was to inform people that there is a way around the crap loot dropping boss (heroic or not), that poses NO trouble what-so-ever.

Does this clear it up some for you, Nugma, in regards to your non-helpful or even needed post?

This can save time if the rogue is decent enough.

Two things to keep in mind though.

First, the boss that comes out after all the bombs have gone off will be very hard to pull without getting a lot of adds that you didn't kill.

Second, if anyone in the group needs the quest done for the first time they don't get credit for the camps being destroyed. It will show up on their screen just like everyone else 1/5, 2/5.. etc.. but when you get to Thrall for the next part, they cannot do it because they were not close enough to the bombs being planted.
