Well the real challenge is to know when you will get the name change because some GMs will disconnect you and if you havent sent it then....youre f*cked. Apart from that its a very nice way and I think that you will get a nice polite request if you acctually report yourself. Just say that you recently read the ToS and hadnt realised you were violating the rules when you made the char. ^__^

Thank you so much sir, you just proved my therory. And that is that people on alliance are just wusses. I can't stand it. Everything I do on Ally gets me reported or suspended. I swear lol. My friend was telling me his alt horde char is awesome cuz ppl are so much more laid back and not such tight asses. A mod in ally territory would ****in make me change "Gagonmycok" in a heartbeat. I can't believe they didn't do anything. But to whoever suggested reporting yourself. That is a very very good idea. Cuz you can be like, "Hey, I am really sorry, I just realized that my name violates some rules, I know I should change it. Just tell me when to log out, and I will, and then I will change it as soon as a log back in." Then when they tell you to log out, spring into action. I am going to rep the creator of this post and the guy who recomended reporting yourself ( I know...odd huh? reporting yourself lol) until my finger bleeds from clicking the mouse.

Since no one has really explained it in depth so far, I will. Here's exactly what happens. You see when you log out formally, AKA, in a city, inn or by letting the 20 sec go by, it saves your progress and all your inventory. When the moderator tells you to log out to change your name, he as a moderator saves all your current settings, so they will be the same when you log out and come back in. So... quickly sending the mail then exiting manually, its like you got D/C'd and it doesn't save. So the most recent save was the one the moderator enabled. So... the mail system delivers X amount of gold to your other char, while X amount of gold never even was removed from your bad name char. Kinda understand it now? I am gonna get all my friends in on this and pool our money together for one massive dupe.

This DOESN'T work. Tried it twice, once I got auto disconnect so I didnt have time to change my name, the second time I submitted a ticket asking if my name was ok. After I talked to the GM the 2nd time I alt+f4 out of wow, logged back in and my character who recieved had the gold, but the new named character had 0 gold. This does not work, but good idea.

The GM's can check your chat log, while reviewing the ticket. So, don't talk about anything regarding the name, in-game.

hm, dont work for me
at the first time i had a so bad char name that i must delete the char
at the second try, the gm whisper me that he will disc me and than i have to change it, so i send the money to my alt and press alt +f4 before the gm disc me, after that i change the name and look in my bags...but dont have the money

does it work for someone ? and when yes how ?
