Umm, once you hearth out of the instance, don't you loose all loot rights? I have actually released and hearthed during kara/gruul pugs, and if the boss dies while I am outside I can't get any loot at all. So even if you somehow could become the raid leader, I don't think you'd be able to assign the loot to yourself.

Good place to try would be a kara/gruul pug, but I think given how long it takes to do all the steps all the loot will be handed out by the time you make it back.

DO NOT Hearth out untill boss is dead, make an excuse check the dkp gimme a minute and say let you repair go to shatt and q for skirmish get the leader and kick the assistants(so they cant invite anyone back) and raidleader so he cant remove you.
