I will answer, even though no questions asked. Yes you can still wall jump and "hug walls". You must be doing something wrong because they can never take it out of the game mechanics or all the models would not work.

First: I'm back online after my flat got hit by a falling tree weeks ago ó0
well.. I just finished DL 2.4 and my methods are all failing. (most of the time)
Maybe BlizZarD added more accuracy to their grid. However I believe there is no way to wallclimb without anglemeters or other tools.. sometimes I still manage to stick to a wall but so far I wasn't able to edge-/walljump more then 10 feet in a row.
That's when I activated a macro I found somewhere in my download folder.. well heading exactly north/south/west/east in a range between 0.000 and 0.500 is not accurate enough. - maybe they added some more digits?
Now atm I am standing on top of the SW fountain and a whole lot of ppl is trying to reach it for hours^^ so... it's not dead it's just more of a leet thing then ever before =) ...maybe I'm not leet enough as I constantly PHAIL with the 2.4 patched in today. Yesterday reaching the dead mines secret was something tricky but not too much... today it's an achievement to get on top of a fountain 5 feet high

/sign ! They'd have to change their whole engine to completely take it out.
(as far as I know the game asks what your angle is, relative to x y z axis when heading near to zero relative to one of X or Z the third relation will stay in a certain boundary that will not get the game to toggle texture hugging off and ths way we just stick to a wall instead of falling down to the next polygon again and again until the angle towards it reaches this boundary to flag it 'stickable'.
There would be 2 methods to eliminate walljumping completely:
Force the engine to flag a texture 'unsticky' .. this would also force them to readjust ALL textures that are 100% horizontal to prevent falling through/imobility.
Add a 4th axis - means to widely rewrite the 3D grid system ... practically building a whole new concept-engine. (not worth the effort)

Many many many many people i talked to came to the same result ... no more wallclimbing possible >_<
