How do I set up a server with a source code?

I heard apparently source codes work better? Or is that a rumor?
I just want to have a better server. :P sorry if I'm misunderstanding everything.

Edit: I may be misunderstanding all this. Source code is for developers, correct?
But when I look at some of the source codes... They have fully working draenor?
