    Capturing an Area/Zone

    Hello Ownedcore,

    Today I come with yet another question about developing! I want to create a “capturable area” on my server. For example in Nagrand players are able to take over Haala and whenever players are within that area there is a bar tat appears on their screen that allows them to capture the area. I want to do something similar to this but instead of capturing Halaa I want to use this type of system for Orgrimmar or Razor Hill.

    In simpler terms I want to make it so players can capture a zone or area. How do I do this? I have investigated and found that objects such as towers in Hellfire are captured and dealt with through WorldPvPScripts in the world file of Arcemu. However, it appears that Halaa is not dealt with in that way.

    Does anyone have any knowledge on this topic so they can guide me in the right direction?

    Step 1) Do not use ArcEmu.

    Step 2) They actually use area triggers to determine if the player is within a capturable zone I believe. You can create custom ones but it requires client side editing.

    You need to create a virtual area and determine if players intersect this area. This is basic math using a set of nodes for the edges of your area and then intersecting that with the players location.

    Step 3) Then you can code to have the bar display values depending on the current state. You just need to code the system up from this point. No real tutorial, just program it.
