Host 'PC name' is not allowed to connect to this mysql server

Hi, im new to this whole private server thing, and im trying to get my friend to be able to join the server so i tryed to make a MySQL thing but it just gives me this error - 'Host 'PC name' is not allowed to connect to this mysql server'

Im using hamachi, if anyone knows the problem please give full instructions on how to do it. And make it noob friendly :c

Make sure you've forwarded your MySQL port (default 3306) through your firewall/router/modem. You can check if it's public here; Open Port Check Tool

When you make the MySQL account for your friend make sure their account is allowed to access the server, IE [email protected].% and not Username@localhost.

You need to wildcard the host name (or specify the IP if it won't be changing). If you wildcard the host name, it can be dangerous if you don't add a password. Be sure to add one. I'd recommend just adding a whole new user with specific commands it can use and specific databases it can read.

This bare bones user should the trick:

CREATE USER 'monty'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'some_pass';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'monty'@'%'
