    [Trinity] Help Connecting on LAN

Hi, so I have set up trinity core for cata (4.3.4) and it works great on the local machine. However, whenever I try to connect to it on my laptop, it hangs on "connecting"

I have a static ip address set on the local machine and have no problem loading my apache server from my laptop using the ip address of the server (192.168.1.12). I've set the config file on my laptop to use this ip address and I've also changed the address to 192.168.1.12 in MySQL on realmlist.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For us to assist you better, it would help if we were to have version information for Trinity... I believe there and .conf files in the server that have information that may assist us.

Although, you may just have firewall issues.

Yeah no problem! Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks for the quick reply. I also forwarded the correct ports, and then tried just disabling the firewall altogether. Is that all I needed to do?

    authserver.conf - Pastebin.com
    worldserver.conf - Pastebin.com

    Code:
    SELECT * FROM realmlist;

Have you edited your hosts file, and created a dynamic dns?

    --- Edit ---

I have a static ip address set on the local machine and have no problem loading my apache server from my laptop using the ip address of the server (192.168.1.12). I've set the config file on my laptop to use this ip address and I've also changed the address to 192.168.1.12 in MySQL on realmlist.

I'm assuming this is your internal IP address. GO ahead and change that to your external IP which you can get at whatsmyip.com etc.

    Let me know the details!

Hi Found, thanks for the response! I changed the ip address in the database to my external ip address. Local ip address remains 127.0.0.1

Tried connecting (remote) with realmlist connecting to 192.168.1.12, no luck. Changed it to my external ip address, still no luck. Do you have any info on binding ip address and what that actually does?

Ttay, you need to post your host's file for me to look at, and you still have to make a dynamic dns host.

    Code:
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    #	127.0.0.1 localhost
    #	::1             localhost

    127.0.0.1	localhost
    127.0.0.1	my_dns_host
    #192.168.1.12	my_dns_host
    #192.168.1.1	my_dns_host
    EXTERNAL	my_dns_host
Thanks Found! Here's my host file. I didn't post my actual domain or external, although i have it working correctly (verified through apache server). I also edited my laptop's host file to point to the internal ip address of my server comp when connecting to my dns host.
