Hello,
I'm curious as to why Molten-WoW and other MaNGOS based servers with 3k+ players online crash at all. I've heard its related to the MaNGOS Grid system, but I haven't found much information on this. I've done some C++ developing of large MMORPG games and don't see why it would be so hard to fix a crash given the amount of experienced developers Molten-WoW has. I'm almost certain that a realm could hold 5k+ players while maintaining consistent stability if it was properly load-balanced(either via failover clustering or balancing zones across multiple physical machines).
Also, I'd like to know why MaNGOS and WoW servers in general use so much RAM compared to Korean MMORPGs. I've seen Korean servers hold over 2,000 players online with less than 4GB ram in use. I understand that Korean MMORPGs are very minimalistic in terms of security(such as position checks), but what is the exact cause of using huge amounts of RAM such as 32GB+ for one realm?
Hope to receive answers to this.
Regards,
Lethal
