Need some advices, what server i need?

Hello guys, im a bit tierd of retail and im thinking to make a private server, but first i need some advices:
1. What server i need?( i will rent a dedicated server, but what configuration, lets say for start 150-200 players and later for more)( gonna rent the server in Spain)
2. I wanna run version 4.0.6 or compatible! Witch 1 is the best?
3. I was looking on forum for some guides tutorials to set the server from scratch but im not able to find ( maby im just to blind ) need a bit of help as well!
4. I need any other advices and ideeas that i can use !

1. 2-3 megahertz dual core is all you need for up to 100 players. 2GB RAM (maybe 3-4 with MySQL too - depends on play style). 30-40mb/s up is fine for up to 100 players to. Don't be unrealistic, you won't get that many players for months and months and months, so only buy what you need.

2. SkyFire Emu (I think). Google it, cata emulation is quite small server wise.

3. Google some more. Not many here.

4. You want advise, so ask some questions.

Just some advice, before getting into making your own server I would recommend learning C++ and doing some localhost emulation until you understand how it works and how to use it, otherwise there's no use in wasting money when most of your time will be spent learning.

Ofc first il do that Confucius, i will set up server on my pc , and learning some stuffs i need, but still... at begining can spend like 200 e /mounth from my poket! just wanna know the most basics things that i should know about a new server !
And stoneharry cheers m8 ! gonna google a little to see what i can find about it.
